Why South Jersey Homeowners Keep Coming Back to This Renovation Company
There were a lot of stepping stones for Brindisi Builders to get to where it is today.
Growing up in Philadelphia, the Brindisi Builders owner and president took part in a construction management program at Drexel University through the carpenter's union once he finished high school. The company that sponsored his schooling folded in 1976. Mike worked for a second business from there, but after taking time off to get married to his wife, Marie, he no longer had a job.
Mike was unsure where to go from there, but he had an idea.
"I said to my wife, 'I think I'm going to start my own company. What do you think?' And she told me to go for it," he said.
Brindisi Builders was founded in 1976 and has grown to become one of the region's most reputable full-service remodeling and renovation companies. From kitchens to bathrooms to entire homes, each project is approached with care and precision. Over nearly a half century, the company has completed more than 30,000 remodeling projects across South Jersey and Philadelphia. Brindisi Builders works out of two locales - Brigantine at the shore and Marlton in Camden County.
"A lot of people know me from Moorestown, from Marlton, from Haddonfield. And they have houses down here now," Mike said. "So, I might have done their house up there, and we do their house here.
There are plenty of reasons to use Brindisi Builders - and no reason not to. The company prides itself on its craftsmanship, quality products and seamless project management. The team also is big on integrity, turning clients' home remodeling dreams into reality at a fair and honest price. In other words, there won't be changes along the way that tack thousands of dollars onto the initial contracted agreement.
"We're fair. We're going to tell you what it's going to cost you," Mike said. "My price is the price whether you have $100 million or whether you have 50 cents. I don't look at the person."
According to Mike, the No. 1 reason behind Brindisi Builders' success is that the company employs its own employees. They aren't subcontracting everything, but where it's a necessity, such as with electrical and plumbing work, they use the same person consistently.
"People are amazed. You're dealing with one person and you have one contract that totally encompasses everything - even cleaning the house when you're done," Mike said. "Clients like the quality and the service. My service team is amazing."
Brindisi Builders is handling everything once the contract is signed, which is a huge draw in Brigantine and surrounding shore towns where remodels are often taking place at second homes when the owners aren't in town. The process makes it easy for them - they know exactly what to expect, they know the job will get done and they know the project will be beautiful - and they don't even have to be there
"Most people don't live here, so they want someone who will take care of everything," Mike said.
While not the main facet of the business, Brindisi Builders also constructs new homes.
"It's for the person who wants to do something different, not something cookie cutter,” Mike said.
In recent years, Mike's position at Brindisi Builders has evolved. He's stilI hands-on and completely involved, but his son-in-law, Quinn Harbright, is becoming the "face" of the company. Quinn is the one dealing directly with customers, and Mike is passing on his knowledge so Brindisi Builders maintains its reputation as an honest, ethical and meticulous company that produces beautiful renovations.
Something else has changed for Mike over the years, too. Now in his early 70s, continuing to work is not to make money - it's to give money. It's for helping others, especially local organizations.
"The only reason I'm working now is so l can give back," Mike said. "Anything I make, I donate.”
